This week we are praying for the state of Congo-Brazzaville – a country on the west coast of Africa, not to be confused with Congo-DRC. Prior to independence in 1960, it was part of French Equatorial Africa and was known as Middle Congo. During the 1960’s it came to be known as Congo (Brazzaville), after its capital, to distinguish it from the neighboring Republic of the Congo (now called Democratic Republic of the Congo). Congo-Brazzaville is a small country, rich in natural resources, and with vast areas of tropical rainforest. However many people live below the poverty line and for all that most profess to be Christians, traditional spirit religions hold sway. Pray for wise government in the country and Spirit-filled leadership in the church.
