WATT met at the end of September. We looked together at the ‘fruit of the Spirit’ (Galatians 5:22-23 see below), first of all taking in the context of the full chapter (and the relationship between the letter to the Galatians and that to the Romans), and then seeking to define each of the characteristics of the fruit … which we found surprisingly difficult! We are all familiar with the words, but what do they mean precisely? How would you define kindness, or goodness, etc?
We settled on describing how they reflect the character of God and the likeness of Christ (Romans 8:29 see below), and asked ourselves these questions …
The Fruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
- What are my strengths?
- How do I share this fruit with others?
- What are my weaknesses?
- How can I grow in areas of weakness? What help do I need from others?
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image (likeness) of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many.
Our next meeting is on Sunday, October 30th, when Joy will lead us in looking at the gifts of the Spirit. 5pm at the Vicarage – women only – all welcome! 🙂
