Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
On January 19th, St Barnabas PCC passed a resolution that the church “moves to merge with St Michael’s in consultation with the wider church and with St Michael’s”. St Michael’s PCC has also now met and offer their full support to St Barnabas. In the longer term, both will seek to be united as one parish.
This has not been an easy decision for the St Barnabas church family, and one that was only taken after much prayer and listening, but we feel very much this is the step that the Lord wants us to take.
So from March 6th St Barnabas will be joining St Michael’s in worship at 10:30am. We want everyone to have the opportunity to think through the move, and what it might mean for both church families. So this coming Sunday, both churches will spend some time looking at the following questions …
† Are there other practical issues we need to take into account when thinking about the move?
† How can St Michael’s best support St Barnabas at this time of change?
† What can St Barnabas offer to St Michael’s?
† How can we continue to be effective in our mission and pastoral care in St Barnabas parish?
If you are unable to be there, please speak to Tim with any comments or concerns, and let’s continue to hold each other in prayer at this time of great change!
