If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:6-7).
Easter presents us with a choice between darkness and light. There is the darkness of sins unforgiven, hope unfulfilled, faith undiscovered. And there is the light of fellowship with God and with one another. There is no middle ground. We have to make a choice – not just with our lips, or in our minds, but also in the type of life we lead. Will we this day take up our cross and follow Jesus?
Today reflect on the past 40 days. What have you learnt about loving God and loving one another?
If you want to reflect further, consider how the good news of Jesus brought into being a community of love we now call the church – see Acts 2:37-47.
