We can be so proud in so many different ways. We can demonstrate publicly how much better we think we are than others. We can hold in our hearts hidden ambitions and patronising attitudes. Pride is a stubborn streak that runs through all of us. But when we behold Jesus on the cross, the only thing we can do with our pride is crucify it. We should be bearing the weight of sin, not Him. We are guilty, not Him. Yet He chooses to die in our place so that we can go free. Hallelujah! What a Saviour.
Today read the whole account of Jesus’ arrest, trial and crucifixion (for example Luke 22-23). What is your response?
If you want to reflect further, read Isaiah 53.
