Meals play a huge part in Jesus’ earthly ministry. They act as a visual aid of what life in God’s kingdom looks like – a life of welcome, of fellowship and of abundance. So we should not be surprised that Jesus’ final meal with His disciples acquires such significance. We often call it the Last Supper but it is also the first meal under the New Covenant where Jesus not only offers hospitality but His very life to all who will dine with Him.
Today ask Jesus to show you how to respond to His love with practical acts of generosity.
If you want to reflect further, read Luke 15:11-31 and consider what welcome the Prodigal Son receives.
