The events of Holy Week are saturated in prayer. There is Jesus private prayer each night on the Mount of Olives (Luke 21:38); there are the more public prayers in the Upper Room (John 17), in the Garden of Gethsamene (Matthew 26:36-46) and on the cross (Luke 23:46). What links all these prayers is a deep trust in God the Heavenly Father, and a submission to His will. If our prayers are to be powerful and effective, then we too need to learn to pray like Jesus.
Today consider what it means for you to seek God’s will as you pray.
If you want to reflect further, consider what you can learn from Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 26:36-46 and from the failure of the disciples.
