A prayer for St Barnabas

Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Pet 2:5)

Lord, as we give thanks for the new building, help us to remember that nothing we do is of worth unless it is built on the rock of Jesus Christ. Thank you that you are not just a God of buildings, but also of people. Thank you that you have built up the church of St Barnabas over the past ten years, and for all that you are yet to do. Fill our church, and fill our lives with praise acceptable to you, and we offer ourselves as living sacrifices to you this day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
