Pray for our diocese

On Saturday I went to Bishop Michael’s farewell service at Exeter Cathedral, a lovely and poignant occasion as we said goodbye to someone who has faithfully served the diocese for the last 13 years.  Yesterday – and this was far more of a surprise – I received an e-mail to say that Bishop John has been appointed Bishop of Murray in Australia. His last Sunday here will be on 29th September, and he starts his new post early in December.

Clearly this is going to be a time of great upheaval for the diocese. Please pray for wise appointment of godly successors, and for bishop Nick who will be the sole active bishop in the diocese for a while in the Autumn. He will face many challenges and important decisions. And please pray for the changes to church structures in our city. As one bishop departs, and a new citywide dean is appointed, we need to pray for the ongoing mission and witness of the Anglican Church in Plymouth.
