The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill – second reading

In light of the parliamentary debate scheduled for today (Tuesday), Rev Tim has written a pastoral letter which was distributed to all church members on Sunday, February 3rd. If you didn’t receive a copy, please read it here.

Rev Tim gives an outline of the issues, the biblical foundations, the implications for Christians and the churches and an account of why the Church of England has failed to take a clear stand.

In his introduction on Sunday, Rev Tim said that he rarely talks about politics, preferring to talk about the good news of  Jesus Christ, but that there are occasions when we must be aware of issues that threaten and distract from the gospel. So please take the time to read his letter, and feel free to contact him (either directly or through the website) with your comments and reactions. And please pray for the debate itself, that it will be well ordered, and that those who oppose the bill will have opportunity to speak and state their case. Pray for all those opposed to the bill on faith grounds, Christian and Moslem alike, for protection and wisdom. Thank you.
