On July 1st, the Bishop of Exeter was present for the consecration of the cathedral of Exeter’s twinned diocese, Thika in Kenya.
The Diocese of Thika is in central Kenya and is a young Diocese having been established in 1998 – although it has experienced explosive growth since that time. Parishes across the Diocese have links with parishes in Thika and through direct contact enjoy exchange of news and requests for prayer support. Some parishes have been inspired to support in practical ways through fundraising for specific projects and ministries in the Diocese of Thika. St Michael’s Church has long had a link with it’s namesake, St Michael’s Church, Ruiru.
There has been a number of highly successful exchanges with visitors from Thika coming to Devon and vice versa.
The consecration of the cathedral marks a very special time in the life of this new and vibrant diocese.
